GROWING COMMUNITIES

Our new project at the fields off Parkwood Road in Golcar have got to a great start.  We have successfully fundraised for a high specification, low maintenance composting toilet facility which is due to be installed on site at the end of this month (February 2020).

We have had the field partly ploughed with manure dug in and we have crops being brought on by Kirklees Council at the Leeds Road site.  We also have funds for a large polytunnel of our own which we hope to purchase and install soon.

Most recently we have been successful in obtaining further funding from the West Yorkshire Police Commissioners which was given to Jan Walters  and Andre Lafouente

– Safer Communities Fund.  This will enable us to purchase tools and equipment and will also help to provide funding for a Volunteer Coordinator and travel expenses for volunteers to access the site.

We are very excited about the opportunities this project will provide to refugees, asylum seekers and also the local communities of Golcar.

If you are interested in getting involved please contact janwalters by email [email protected], or text 07579966202.
